At 12:07 on January 17, 2025, Long March-2D (LM-2D) launch vehicle successfully delivered Pakistan's PRSC-EO1 Satellite into its designated orbit. The launch mission was a complete success.
China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), a subsidiary of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), reached an multi-launch services agreement with Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) in 2022. CGWIC's launch services team bringing international and domestic satellites together for the first time., to design an unique launch solution that balances reliability and competitiveness. This approach allowed CGWIC to stand out in the intense global competition and finally awarded the contract. In addition, CGWIC also provides PRSC-EO1 satellite with TT&C support for launch and LEOP phase.
PRSC-EO1 satellite, designed and developed by SUPARCO, is a remote sensing satellite equipped with a high-resolution optical payload. The remote sensing data acquired by the satellite will serve various fields in Pakistan, including land mapping, agricultural classification and assessment, urban and rural planning, environmental monitoring, natural disaster monitoring and management, surveying, natural resource protection, and others.
This mission also launched DAO-1 satellite, developed by Galaxy Space (Anhui) Technology Co., Ltd. for the Jianghuai Frontier Innovation Technology Center, and Blue Carbon-1 satellite, developed by Zhejiang Geespace Technology Co., Ltd. for Hangzhou Dianzi University.
Pakistan is the country with the longest history and the broadest scope of space cooperation with China. The successful implementation of the PRSC-EO1 satellite project marks another milestone in the space collaboration between China and Pakistan. It is a reflection of China-Pakistan friendship and a practice of the China-Pakistan community of destiny, It not only vividly embodies the friendship between the two nations but also serves as a concrete practice of the China-Pakistan community with a shared future. This achievement further consolidates and deepens the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan.
Long March-2D is a two-stage liquid propellant launch vehicle designed and developed by SAST, a subsidiary of CASC, primarily used to launch small to medium-sized satellites into LEO and SSO, with a payload capacity of 1,300 kg to 700km SSO. The launch vehicle has maintained a 100% mission success to date. This launch marks the 95th flight of Long March-2D launch vehicle.
CGWIC is a commercial organization authorized by the Chinese government to provide commercial launch services, satellite systems and to carry out space technology cooperation. With the support of CASC, CGWIC can provide rapid, consistent, and reliable "one-stop" services with quality, to global customers by launching the brand named "Long March Express".
Since CGWIC entered the international market in the 90s, it has performed 57 commercial launch missions for 74 international satellites. In addition, CGWIC has conducted 22 rideshare missions, delivering 29 international payloads into orbits.
