A Kinetica-1 launch vehicle lifted off from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 12:03, November 11th, 2024, successfully launching the IRSS-1 satellite into its predetermined orbit.

The IRSS-1 satellite contract is a remote sensing satellite in-orbit delivery contract signed between China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) and OMAN LENS LLC.

IRSS-1 is an optical remote sensing satellite developed by Shenzhen Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Ltd., a subsidiary of China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) subordinated to China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). The satellite is based on CAST-5 platform, the mass of which is 95kg and the design life is 5 years. The satellite with on-board intelligent processing capability can carry out in-orbit image processing such as cloud detection, intelligent compression, target recognition, image slicing and so on. IRSS-1 will be applied in land survey, urban planning, forest investigation, disaster monitoring, etc..

IRSS-1 is the first remote sensing satellite delivered by CGWIC to Oman. The successful launch of the satellite will play an important role in enhancing Oman's remote sensing application capability and promoting cooperation between China and Oman in aerospace field.
