At 2:30 Sept. 6th, 2024 BJT, Long March 6 (LM-6) Launch Vehicle successfully launched 10 GEESATCOM satellites from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TSLC). China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science & Technology Corporation (CASC), provides the launch services in this mission. The 10 GEESATCOM satellites are all developed and manufactured by Geespace, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co.,Ltd.. This is the third launch performed by CGWIC for Geespace, following the deployment of a total of 20 GEESATCOM satellites on Jun. 2nd, 2022 and on Feb. 3rd, 2024.
With the successful deployment, GEESATCOM now comprises 30 satellites distributed across three orbital planes. This configuration enables 24-hour coverage of 90% of globe, officially launching satellite communication services for global users. LM-6 Launch Vehicle is a liquid three-stage new generation launcher designed and manufactured by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), also a subsidiary of CASC. The designed capacity of LM-6 can be up to 1000kg for 700km sun synchronous orbit.
CGWIC is a commercial organization authorized by Chinese government to provide commercial launch services, satellite systems and to carry out space technology cooperation. Under the guidance of CASC, CGWIC can provide fast, stable and reliable "one-stop" quality services to both international and domestic customers by introducing the "Long March Express" launch services brand.
Since Long March launch vehicles entered the international market in 1990s, CGWIC has completed 89 commercial launches for 73 international satellites and 165 domestic satellites. In addition, CGWIC has provided 48 rideshare launch services sending 28 international payloads and 123 domestic payloads into orbits.
This launch marks the 12th flight of LM-6, and the 534th flight of the Long March fleet.
