At 11:06, May 20th, 2024 BJT, Long March 2D (LM-2D) Launch Vehicle blasted off from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TSLC), successfully sending BEIJING-3C satellites into the predetermined orbit.
The launch services for BEIJING-3C are prime-contracted by China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). This is the third time that CGWIC has supported BEIJING-3 satellites system construction of Twenty First Century Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd, following the successful launches of BEIJING-3 satellite in June 2021 and BEIJING-3B satellite in August 2022 respectively.
The BEIJING-3C satellites are designed and manufactured by DFH Satellite Co., Ltd of China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), also a subsidiary of CASC, and owned by Twenty First Century Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. They will be applied to fields of land and resources management, survey of agricultural resources, ecological environment monitoring and urban applications.
LM-2D Launch Vehicle is the liquid two-stage launcher developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), also a subsidiary of CASC. The designed capacity of LM-2D is 1300kg for 700km sun synchronous orbit. This mission is the 90th launch of LM-2D.
CGWIC is a commercial organization authorized by Chinese government to provide commercial launch services, satellite systems and to carry out space technology cooperation. Under the guidance of CASC, CGWIC can provide fast, stable and reliable "one-stop" quality services to both international and domestic customers by introducing the "Long March Express" launch services brand.
Since Long March launch vehicles successfully entered the international market in 1990s, CGWIC has completed 86 commercial launch missions for 72 international satellites and 137 domestic satellites. In addition, CGWIC has conducted 49 rideshare missions sending 28 international payloads and 123 domestic payloads into orbits.
