CGWIC Successfully Launches Eleven GeeSAT-5 Satellites by LM-2C | The current page: Home -> News |
At 7:37 Feb. 3rd, 2024 BJT, Long March 2C (LM-2C) Launch Vehicle successfully launched 11 satellites (collectively known as the second orbit plane of Geely Future Mobility Constellation) from Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC). China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science & Technology Corporation (CASC), provides the launch services for the 11 satellites in this mission. The 11 satellites are all developed and manufactured by Geespace, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co.,Ltd.. This is the second launch services program between CGWIC and GeeSpace, following the successful deployment of the GeeSAT-5(01)~(09) satellites on Jun. 2nd, 2022.
This launch marks the 200th flight of XSLC.
The satellites are used for earth observation, internet of things experiments, and the verification of satellite positioning technology.
LM-2C Launch Vehicle is a liquid two-stage launcher designed and manufactured by China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), also a subsidiary of CASC. The designed capacity of LM-2C is 1300kg for 700km sun synchronous orbit.
CGWIC is a commercial organization authorized by Chinese government to provide commercial launch services, satellite systems and to carry out space technology cooperation. Under the guidance of CASC, CGWIC can provide fast, stable and reliable "one-stop" quality services to both international and domestic customers by introducing the "Long March Express" launch services brand.
Since Long March launch vehicles entered the international market in 1990s, CGWIC has completed 82 commercial launches for 72 international satellites and 130 domestic satellites. In addition, CGWIC has provided 48 rideshare launch services sending 28 international payloads and 119 domestic payloads into orbits.
This launch marks the 508th flight of the Long March fleet, and also the 1st dedicated launch performed by CGWIC in 2024.
