At 10:50 July 23th, 2023 BJT, Long March-2D (LM-2D) Launch Vehicle successfully launched 4 satellites, namely Skysight AS-01~03 and Lingxi-03 satellites, from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TSLC).
The launch services for the 4 satellites are prime-contracted by CGWIC, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).
Skysight AS-01~03 are owned by Skysight Technology Co.,Ltd. Skysight AS-01 is a low-orbit synthetic aperture radar satellite designed and manufactured by Skysight Technology Co.,Ltd. Skysight AS-02 is an optical remote sensing satellite, and Skysight AS-03 is an infrared remote sensing satellite. Skysight AS-02~03 are designed & manufactured by GalaxySpace. All 3 satellites will be used for remote sensing observation and applications.
Lingxi-03 satellite is a broadband commuinications technology verification satellite designed, manufactured and owned by GalaxySpace. It will be used for in-orbit verification of broadband communications satellite technology.
LM-2D is a two-stage liquid launcher developed and manufactured by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), also a subsidiary of CASC. LM-2D is designed for LEO and SSO orbit remote sensing satellite launch mission, and the designed capacity is 1300kg for 700km sun synchronous orbit. LM-2D has successfully performed 77 flights till now.
CGWIC is a commercial organization authorized by Chinese government to provide commercial launch services, satellite systems and to carry out space technology cooperation. Under the guidance of CASC, CGWIC can provide fast, stable and reliable "one-stop" quality services to both international and domestic customers by introducing the "Long March Express" launch services brand. Since the Long March series of launch vehicles successfully entered the international market in the 1990s, CGWIC has completed 81 commercial launch missions for 72 international and 119 domestic satellites. In addition, CGWIC has conducted 46 rideshare missions, sending 27 international payloads and 117 domestic payloads into orbits.
