At 13:30, June 15th, 2023 BJT, Long March 2D (LM-2D) Launch Vehicle blasted off from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TSLC), successfully sending 41 satellites into the predetermined orbit, namely Jilin-1GF06A01-30, Jilin-1GF03D19-26, HEGS–1 and Jilin-1PT02A01/02, and the amount of satellites reached a record high by Chinese launch vehicles in this LM-2D flight.
The launch services for the 41 satellites are prime-contracted by CGWIC, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). The 41 Satellites are all sub-meter high-resolution remote sensing satellites which are designed and manufactured by Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co.,Ltd, which are used to obtain high-resolution remote sensing image of earth observation, provide remote sensing information services such as situation analysis, target monitoring, and regional census for users, and provide the remote sensing data services for territorial and mineral resources exploration, smart city construction and other industries. Up to now, CGWIC has completed 8 commercial launch missions to send a total of 89 satellites into orbits for Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co.,Ltd.
LM-2D Launch Vehicle is a liquid two-stage launcher designed and manufactured by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), also a subsidiary of CASC. The designed capacity of LM-2D is 1300kg for 700km sun synchronous orbit. This mission is the 76th launch of LM-2D.
CGWIC is a commercial organization authorized by Chinese government to provide commercial launch services, satellite systems and to carry out space technology cooperation. With the support of CASC, CGWIC can provide fast, stable and reliable "one-stop" quality services to both international and domestic customers by introducing the "Long March Express" launch services brand.
Since the Long March series of launch vehicles successfully entered the international market in the 1990s, CGWIC has completed 80 commercial launch missions for 72 international and 115 domestic satellites. In addition, CGWIC has conducted 46 rideshare missions, sending 27 international payloads and 117 domestic payloads into orbits.
This launch marks the 476th flight of the Long March fleet.
