China's State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence and China Meterological Administration released the first images and data acquired by its new generation geostationary meteorological satellite Fengyun-4 which was launched in last Dec.11 as China's first second-generation weather satellites in geostationary orbit.
The satellite can make high time, spatial and spectral resolution observations of the atmosphere, clouds and space environment of China and surrounding regions, significantly improving capabilities of weather and climate forecasts.
The satellite was developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), the subsidiary of China Aerospace Science & Technology Corporation (CASC).
