A new data relay satellite Tianlian I-04 was launched by Long March-3C launch vehicle Tuesday night from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest Sichuan Province.
The satellite was the country's fourth data relay satellite, developed by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).
China has launched its data relay satellites Tianlian I-01, Tianlian I-02 and Tianlian I-03 during 2008 to 2012.The four satellites will form a network to provide data relay and TT&C service for China's spacecrafts, space labs and space station.
The Long March-3C launch vehicle was developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science & Technology Corporation (CASC).
The launch was the 241th mission of the Long March launch vehicle family.
