China Successfully Launches the LAOSAT-1 Communications Satellite The current page: Home -> News

At 00:07 Beijing Time on November 21, 2015, the LAOSAT-1 communications satellite was successfully launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC) aboard a Long March-3B launch vehicle. This launch mission is the 218th flight of the Long March Family.

This launch is conducted in accordance with the LAOSAT-1 satellite program contract in December 2011, which is signed between China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), China Asia-Pacific Mobile Telecommunications Satellite Co., Ltd. (APMT) and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Lao PDR (MPT) .

LAOSAT-1, based on DFH-4S satellite bus, is built and manufactured by China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), with the payload consisting of 14 C-band, 8 Ku-band transponders and 2 antennas, the satellite has a service life of 15 years.

LAOSAT-1 satellite will further improve Lao telecommunication infrastructure and construct the nationwide broadcasting television and satellite communication Network, providing service such as satellite broadcasting television, VAST communications and international data transmission for Laos and its surrounding countries.
